Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) today announced that Cook Wealth Management Group is now the “Official Wealth Management Company of SVRA.” Founded in 1984 and based in Raleigh, North Carolina, Cook Wealth Management Group is a recognized leader in holistic financial planning through a team of wealth managers with over 100 years of combined experience.

“After meeting with the Cook team, I immediately realized that they have a comprehensive practice for wealth management that you rarely see in companies offering financial services,” said SVRA CEO Tony Parella. “I am excited for Cook Wealth to join our racing family because our community of car owners can take full advantage of Cook Wealth’s planning services. It’s a great bonus that managing partner Brian Cook is a racer himself, and that he and founder Jon Cook are both motorsports enthusiasts.”

Cook Wealth serves successful executives, business owners, retirees, and their heirs. With Cook Wealth’s comprehensive approach to tax and financial planning, clients have more time for family, friends, and leisure. Cook Wealth examines a client’s entire financial situation and proactively communicates with clients when changes occur or new opportunities arise. The focus of their service is building lifetime partnerships – working closely with clients through all kinds of life events. Their comprehensive services include Tax Planning, Financial Planning, and Asset Management and Protection, among many others.

“We can’t wait to build win-win relationships with the racers of SVRA,” said Brian Cook, Managing Partner. “Not only are we passionate about racing, but more importantly SVRA is a terrific community of success-driven people I am convinced will appreciate our philosophy of holistic planning. The national platform of races at all the major American road courses bolsters our efforts to take a higher profile and expand into new markets.”

Cook Wealth Management Group joins top-brand companies on the growing list of SVRA sponsors that include Jaguar, Land Rover, NetJets, Sunoco, Avis, Big Machine Vodka, TireRack.com, and Marathon Coach. SVRA’s nationwide platform is at the heart of the organization’s growth strategy.

Sponsorship agreements with powerful brands are combined with the significant participation of legendary professional drivers and leveraging the high net worth demographic in the paddock for sponsorship attraction. This provides three pillars for business expansion. Company officials report consistent annual triple-digit growth since 2012.

Why is it that only rich white guys are destroying the planet with everything they do,
so they must be hated by the leftists, and have everything confiscated from them?.....to enrich the pockets of leftists?.......

Maybe someone has to pay the bills......

SVRA Opens Season This Weekend With SoCal Historic Sports Car Festival

EmailFontana, CA — With 110 drivers on the entry list as of our deadline, the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association’s SoCal Historic Sports Car Festival will honor Southern California’s racing roots with vintage stock cars, sports cars, sports racers and formula cars of all eras competing on Auto Club Speedway’s 21-turn, 2.88-mile “roval” course.
Not just a featured Mustang at SoCal, Lance Smith’s ’66 will play a special role. Photo: SVRAOne of those drivers, Lance Smith, has offered to take a passenger for a very special lap Saturday in his red 1966 Ford Mustang.

That’s when 84-year-old Nancy Pinta — a former racer and current resident of the nearby Cypress Court senior living community — will climb into Smith’s Mustang as part of the Dreams Do Come True program founded by Cypress Court’s wellness director, Judy Lucous, in 2016.

Mustang is the event’s featured marque; special activities will include a Mustang Reunion and a 30-minute feature race on Sunday. Also, Hagerty’s Cars & Caffeine Car show on Saturday will showcase a variety of classic, vintage, exotic and collectible motorcycles and cars of interest.

And ahead of NASCAR’s return to Auto Club Speedway on March 1, the SoCal Historic Sports Car Festival will also include competition among roughly 10 vintage stock cars that originally raced in NASCAR’s various divisions. The class continues to gain popularity as stock cars become more readily available with NASCAR implementing its “Next Gen” car in 2021.

Last year’s three Vintage Race of Champions series titlists — Willy T. Ribbs, Davy Jones, and Wally Dallenbach Jr. — were the first to enter the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association’s’s VROC Charity Pro-Am at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, March 27-28.

The Georgia round kicks off the SVRA series’ four-round 2020 season, with additional events scheduled for Circuit of The Americas, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and VIRginia International Raceway.

“Our 2019 VROC series was an absolute success,” said SVRA President and CEO Tony Parella. “The competition was so intense that it produced a tie for Davy Jones and Wally Dallenbach in the BP class. We had two tiebreakers in place if the point standings were knotted up, but they came out even on those as well.
Willy T. Ribbs will return to defend his VROC A Production title.

“Willy is our AP champ, and I’m happy for him that he finally got a great win at Indy.”

Ribbs’ life and career story has been captured in the film, “Uppity” now trending on Netflix. He is, of course, the first black driver to qualify for the Indianapolis 500; was a prolific winner in the Trans Am series; and wound up his career winning 10 races for Dan Gurney’s IMSA Toyota team. Ribbs was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

Chicago-born Davy Jones first gained notice when he placed third in the 1983 British Formula 3 championship behind Ayrton Senna. Jones later competed in the New Zealand Formula Atlantic series, then moved on into a long career split between IMSA GTP and IndyCars. He competed in six Indianapolis 500s, finishing second in 1996.
Dallenbach tied with Jones for the 2019 VROC BP crown.

Dallenbach Jr. launched his professional racing career in the Trans Am series, and, in 1985 at 22, became the series’ youngest champion. He scored class wins in the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring, had a successful 11-year NASCAR run, and extended his noteworthy career by becoming a motorsports commentator for TNT and NBC.

Dallenbach has also served as a chief steward with the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli.

The late-March Road Atlanta Charity Pro-Am will support Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit organization that provides assistance to combat-wounded service members, their families, and families of those killed in action. The organization focuses on those involved in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom and their families.

The SVRA race weekend will run during their Month of the Military Child.

VROC Charity Pro-Am cars are primarily 1963 to 1972 vintage Corvettes, Camaros, and Mustangs of SVRA “Group 6” A and B Production. Retired professionals will be paired with amateur drivers, who will start the races and be required to drive a maximum of seven laps.

In addition to the Pro-Am, the Speed Tour Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta weekend is a festival of other activities, including professional Trans Am by Pirelli series races on Saturday and Sunday, the Hagerty Insurance “Cars & Caffeine” car corral, and more than 300 vintage race cars spanning 100 years of automotive history competing in SVRA Race Groups 1-12.

The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association today announced the cancellation of its Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta event scheduled for March 26-29.

SVRA President and CEO Tony Parella posted the following letter to competitors and fans on the popular vintage racing group’s website:

Dear Atlanta Competitors,

After careful consideration, and the ever-changing updates on the COVID-19 crisis, we will not be holding the event at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, March 26-29, as planned.

Frankly, there is just too much travel risk and unknown health effects to put on the event at this time. We are trying to find an alternative date that we can make work with the Road Atlanta management team for later this year.

We appreciate the flood of support we’ve received from all of our racers over the last few days. Thank you for your feedback to date and we will welcome that going forward. These are scary times for everyone. Please take care of your health and we will be providing updates on future events as this season unfolds.

We will be extending a full credit for entry fees paid to put toward any future event.

God Bless,

Tony

Trans Am Race Company and Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) have jointly announced that the Brickyard Invitational event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, scheduled for the second weekend in June, will be rescheduled to a later date, to be determined.

The decision was made in accordance with the Indiana state guidelines for phasing into a more open economy.

“We have to respect the caution taken by Indiana state government,” said Tony Parella, president and CEO of SVRA and the majority owner of the Trans Am Race Company. “When we finally do host an event, we will make going racing at one of our SpeedTour weekends safer than going to the grocery store.”

SVRA, as event promoter, is working with IMS management to find a suitable date for the Brickyard Invitational.

Sportscar Vintage Racing Association has affirmed June dates at both Road America and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The agreement with Road America is a new date after a postponement from the original May 15 -17 Vintage Festival. Fathers’ Day June 18-21 weekend became available with the postponement of the Brickyard Invitational at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and changes to the Indy car date originally planned at Road America at that time. Mid-Ohio will take place on its previously announced date, June 25-28.

SVRA will share the Road America race weekend with Blue Marble Radical Cup’s unique form of sports car racing. The SpeedTour Festival formula will return at Mid-Ohio, featuring SVRA and Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli.

The Mid-Ohio races will be live-streamed. Fans around the globe can enjoy the competition through free streaming media to their phones, tablets, and computers. Free downloads are available for both Apple and Android. There are separate apps for SVRA and Trans Am.

“Road America and Mid-Ohio are important venues for our sport and as the economy opens, we are able to move forward with responsible precautions,” said Tony Parella, SVRA president and CEO and majority owner of the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli. “Our goal is to make SVRA and SpeedTour racing safer than going to the grocery store.”

“Vintage racing is important to Road America and we are delighted to keep SVRA on our schedule this season,” said Road America President and General Manager Michael Kertscher. “I am proud that everyone in motorsports is pitching in to make the best of a situation we absolutely did not want and could not have planned for. This was a perfect opportunity to get SVRA back and give all our fans another reason to take in Father’s Day at America’s ‘National Park of Speed.’ Fans will also have the opportunity to watch the Blue Marble Radical Cup during the SVRA Vintage Weekend.”

Fans are encouraged to follow safe practices at Road America, such as social distancing (maintaining six feet from others), frequent hand washing, or using one of the many new sanitizer stations located throughout the facility. Cloth face coverings are encouraged in areas where social distancing is difficult.

Car owner registrations for both race weekends are open at www.svra.com. Owners who filed entries for Road America’s original date are welcome to register at no additional fee.

Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) officials confirmed today the second edition of the HSR Ridge Runner Rally will proceed as scheduled June 22-25, running within the parameters of CDC- and state-prescribed safety guidelines and protocols.

The summer rally is a one-of-a-kind tour of the most scenic highways and byways through the Smoky Mountains in Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. The experience includes stops at several regional attractions and overnight luxury lodging at some of the finest hotels in the Southeast.

Officials from HSR have been in contact with every hotel and planned tour stop on this year’s Ridge Runner Rally route, and have been given across-the-board assurances that all properties are in compliance with current novel coronavirus countermeasures and state-mandated safety protocols.

A recent cancellation has opened up the last two registration spots for the otherwise sold-out event. Each spot includes two-person occupancy and a per-vehicle price of $5,500, with all meals and lodging included.

The first night stay is at the first-class Westin Hotel Chattanooga with a welcome dinner at local downtown restaurant. The opening day on the road extends from downtown Chattanooga and along the beautiful Ocoee River to a lunch spot in Murphy, N.C.

The afternoon route travels the scenic Cherohala Skyway to the Historic Tapoco Lodge and Resort in Robbinsville, N.C. for the first overnight stop.

Day two will trek along Fontana Lake and Dam with a stop in Cherokee, N.C. From there the tour takes to the Blue Ridge Parkway and then some challenging back roads on way to the Old Edwards Inn and Spa in Highlands, N.C. for the first of a two-night stay.

Wednesday will be a free day for guests to enjoy shopping and dining in downtown Highlands, a day at the spa at Old Edwards Inn or the many other activities to choose from.

Thursday travels through the Cullasaja River gorge on way to Cherokee, N.C. and then through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The rally concludes Thursday evening with a farewell dinner and the popular awards presentation at the Snowbird Mountain Lodge in Robbinsville, N.C.

The HSR Ridge Runner Rally is fully supported by a lead car and chase vehicle, although detailed route books will be provided for participants electing to tour on their own. Regardless of the path traveled, the Rally features valet service that will safely and securely transport and place each participant’s luggage in guest rooms prior to arrival at each destination.

Vintage racing is back at Road America with this weekend’s Sportscar Vintage Racing Association Vintage Festival, which will be open to spectators.

Originally scheduled to kick off Road America’s vintage racing season in May, the event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then with the rescheduling of the IndyCar REV Group Grand Prix presented by AMR to July 9-12 as a special doubleheader, Road America found a home for SVRA to continue on Father’s Day weekend.

The event — with Mazda Miata as featured marque — offers a packed schedule including SVRA’s Miata Heritage Cup and a June 21 Enduro.

EmailElkhart Lake, WI — Vintage racing is alive and well — and back at Road America with this weekend’s Sportscar Vintage Racing Association Vintage Festival. See the entry list by group.

Photo: Scott Paceley“Vintage racing is important to Road America and we are delighted we were able to keep SVRA on the schedule for our 65th anniversary season,” said Mike Kertscher, Road America’s President and General Manager. “I am proud that everyone in motorsports is pitching in to make the best of a situation we absolutely did not want and could not have planned for. Fans will also have the opportunity to watch the Blue Marble Radical Cup during the SVRA Vintage Weekend.”

Spectators are welcome; see Road America’s COVID-19 precaution info. All active and reserve-duty military and veterans receive free admission with ID for the weekend. Buy tickets online and print at home for contact-free entry to the event.
