A road trip like that is always more fun when you have someone going with you.
Thats true. Usually each time we all go to an auto-x very far away we make a caravan out of it. When you are going 20-50 MPH over the speed limit there is strength in numbers.

Instead of speeding it becomes moving with the flow of traffic.

Do you autocross? YES

How often? AS often as I can afford tires to do so

How far will you travel? I drove to Kansas for Nationals...

How much will you pay to enter? I just paid 85 for the PRO event in Alabama, but dont you dare think that I'll pay that for a local

Serious competition or just fun? I like the competition, and I do run the National events, but the reason why I'm in the sport is because it's fun.

Loren, If youre in the Tampa area, I'd suggest making the trek down to Ft. Myers at least once. I know its a bit more than 90 mns, but it's WORTH IT. Its within the top 3 surfaces in the entire country, and the courses really teach you a lot....and there's a lot of cool people who run almost exclusively down there.

I did run down to Ft. Myers once. I did enjoy it, the drive was just a bit much. The surface is nice, but nowhere near as good as what we had at McConnell AFB in Wichita (when they let us run there -- pre 9/11). The difference between "retired" WWII concrete and "active" military taxiway concrete is astounding.

Very true...although, i have bad memories of Witchita. I made it to there Friday night after the Trophy dinner at Nationals. The next morning, I made it 90 miles past Oklahoma City when I wreck....oh well. C'est le vie.

Do you autocross?
Yup

How often?
Usually try for once/twice a month

How far will you travel?
2hrs max and it better be worth it (ie: Gainesville)

How much will you pay to enter?
$30 if run count is high and the course is good

Serious competition or just fun?
Fun

Haven't been out in a little while mainly due to my crazy schedule lately but I'm hoping all this will clear up soon. Got a whole new setup and class to try out this year.

Do you autocross?
Yes

How often?
As often as my wallet and schedule allows.
I raced about 5 or 6 times last year alone.

How far will you travel?
2 hours max...I've raced as far away as G'Ville, Z-Hills and Palm Bay.

How much will you pay to enter?
No more than $30 bucks

Serious competition or just fun?
Mostly for fun, I hope to be more competitive though. "cause winning would be even more fun.

Default Winning

Lots of mention of "winning" and the relative importance people place on it. I guess winning is okay, but only if you had true competition. Anyone who's "won" against feeble competition when their own driving wasn't up to par knows what I'm talking about.

To me, the most fun comes from friendly rivalries. Doesn't matter whether any of your group of rivals "wins" overall. All that matters is that you were able to have a little fun talking some shit before, during and after... and if you're lucky, you get the last word... until next time.

This is what makes season championships so much fun. The trophy itself isn't relevant, it's fighting for it among your friends. That is the glory of competition as I see it.

Of course, autocrossing just for the joy of pushing your car to the limit is fun, too.
