OK, so I guess at this point we've proven that I suck. If Bryan had said "don't go" I guess I could understand leaving early. But I dunno how I got anything "go" related out of "hold on". Was looking forward and not at the starter, so now that's a lesson learned too. I lose at the auto-x.

(BTW it was only my second PCA event)

Glad everybody else had a good time, and stayed dry (to an extent).

Seems like an honest mistake to me. No one yelled for you to stop or red flagged you after you left the line? No one got on the radio to tell people to flag you? Sounds like other people made mistakes as well.

We've seen worse incidents involving starts than this. I never trust the starter to tell me to go. Many times I have been told to go when course workers were still out on course or when a crossing car has not passed yet. Just be aware of your surroundings and maybe you would have seen the guy on course messing with cones.

I have also been told to start when I saw people still on the course. I just pointed it out to the starter and waited. When I'm waiting to start I look out over the track. It isn't easy being the starter because there is usually a car still on the track when you go to start the next guy, so something could happen when you look away.

I'm glad you came to a Full Stop and avoided hitting ME . I was pretty pissed because I knew the safety proceedures were not being followed. I am sorry that I blew up (apparently not as much as Dave), but in my defense I was almost hit by a speeding race car.

Word mentioned why no red flag. There was no time Jeremy. I was just a little way down the track at station 2. That also pissed me off because I was not far from the starting line and I should have been easily seen.

As a course worker, your safety is also your responsibility. Keep your eyes open for cars and get out of the way. Don't depend on someone else to wave a flag or the driver to see you. No cone is worth getting run over.

Is there a PCA forum where maybe they're discussing this? It would be worthwhile, IMO to clear the air with everyone.

I wasn't there, but the last thing I want to see is local clubs starting to shun the "other" cars because "things happen", regardless of fault.

That said, I'm also not real sure I care to autocross with people who completely fly off the handle, shout obsceneties, and threaten things. That's not a pleasant day for my money.
