Default Local begginer autox/open track?

I've been wanting to get into autocrossing or open-tracking for a very long time now... Figured I'd take charge and try to find something to get in to. Not much for drag racing or drifting...I drive an STi for crying out loud!

Anyway, just wondering if there are any organizations or clubs where I can get involved in this sort of racing? I've always had a soft spot for grip racing and am very eager to find something that suits me....preferably OT, but autocrossing would be a very good start.

I read though the links above but wanted to get some local advice and input....

Thanks!
Evan

Brooksville autocross event details.

Click the link, register, show up early, have fun, and hopefully learn something.

I better see an STi on the entry list. I wouldn't want to have typed all this for nothing.

Also check out www.sunridersmotorsports.com

I autocross there usually every other month or so. Everyone there is awesome, and it's very beginner friendly. Close by,too.

The current Sunriders Motorsports director drives an STi, also.

When your ready to jump to a track day, here are some clubs.

www.chinmotorsports.com <----- I recommend this club if you have never participated in a track day

www.safemotorsports.com <----- Advanced school. You have to show proof of prior track experience

http://www.drivenasafl.com/ < New school, but is run by the guy that started safemotorsports. I don't know that much about it, but my guess is it's an advanced school... just like safemotorsports

As an event chairman for SCCA autocrosses I can heartily recommend Sunriders to a beginner. You'll find lots of friendly faces and helpful people. The atmosphere is a bit more relaxed and geared more towards just having fun than the SCCA which has a more competitive feel.

You can get the same amount of help from an SCCA event you just might have to be more persistent to get it.

All that said, I started with the SCCA and so now has my wife. I do believe that we have the next available event so come on out.
