Default Not always True

(RMS is a mathematical formula which is pretty hard to fudge or lie about).

If one guy runs his amp below the recomended and rated impedience level and gets more power out of it then if he doesn't cook it good for him but that is not the only thing involved in making an SPL meter move

The classes are broke down with the consumer in mind and to try and make it as fair as possible between the competitors in the same classes.
Going off RMS power is not a very fair way to classify people's classes. RMS is lied about constantly by manufacturers. Here a few examples showing that this classifaction is not fair:
1. A walmart Visonik 1200 watt amp is not going to put out even close to my underrated sundown 1000 watt amp putting out almost 1500 watts.
2. As mentioned by the727kid, his sundown amp putting out 3000 @ 1 ohm (rated), will put out around ~3500 + @ .5 ohm
3. Some amps RMS are rated at 17.0 volts (ma audio) and some at 12.8 volts (sundown).

It's hard to find a perfect way to classify systems. One setup is always going to have an advantage over another depending on the classifaction scheme. Nonetheless, the show will be fun.

Might work for a burp, but not much more than that.

I think that if I were to run a show based on fuse size, A) I'd issue the fuses to prevent tampering B) I'd use an average SPL over like 5 seconds, to make sure we accurately see the time / current aspect of said fuse and C) deduct DB if the fuse is blown.

I guess there will always be ways to cheat, though.

If you are not sure about how to figure out which class you will be in come any way and you will be helped out by one of the judges at the show.

The show is this Sunday so come on out have fun and take home a trophy if you can.
