Default NT Hardcore Slammed a 152DB

NT Hardcore Slammed a 152DB and won his class props up to ya

Anybody know who the guy with the 2 10" JL Audio's and 2000 Watt Hifonics set up was he was very impressive too with a 149 DB and also won his class

Then of course loudest of show was the primered Astro Van with 8 Rockford Fosgate 15" and 3 Rockford Fosgate 4000DB amps who did a 159.9, so close to a 160 DB's maybe next time

All in all lots of fun

I will post pics in the next few days and post about the up coming shows also.

Great job NT Hardcore! If you are hitting those numbers with that setup you brought by the shop last week, imagine what you will be hitting with the new setup we are discussing in the next couple of months! That 160db title may be yours!!! Damn, I had no idea your truck was that loud. This is going to be fun...

152dB with that set-up? No doubt it is loud, but I wonder on that mic.

Actually how they are calibrated depends very much on what a car can hit.

Calibration and the brand of the mic are very key. I can have 2 brand new mics side by side and an AudioControl will read much loud than a Term-Lab. Also depending where i set the knob my AudioControl can read the same car at a 145 or at 150+. I'm not knocking anyone, i wasn't there.....but implying that all mics are the same is just plain wrong.

i have not competed in a long---long time, but they use to have a standard to how a mic & meter was setup, has that changed? with these new crazy rules I have no idea. Still lost on what class I would compete in, so my build has slowed until I figure it out.... but i am putting a 47" TV in a esclade - anyone want to see how?

Term-Lab changes it ALL the time for standards, so it's tough to keep up. What hit a 170 on a TL 5 years ago might only do a 165 now.

Not necessarily doubting you, but where did you get this info? I've received termlab software updates, but never anything to do with calibration. Their pressure sensors have a K factor, that has to be put into the software, but that's it. It doesn't have any moving parts, like a mic, so it shouldn't change.

Its really irrelevant, for pressure sensor based measurement anyway, as long as the same calibration is used for each competitor...loudest will still be loudest. I've heard that some shops / promoters will play with the K factor, to make them seem louder, but loudest will still be loudest.

For mic based systems, though, all bets are off. In my experience, they lack repeatability above about 140 db.
