it haD nothing to do with the amp or the wireing or the grounds, it was the shitty rca's sony uses in the wire harness for the ps2. unhooked it and the noise went away. the lanzar amp pushes alot of poewer but the sq is crap. im still looking for a new/used amp let me know if anyones got a decient one for cheep

That doesn't necessarily mean it's the ps2 rca's. It could also be noise induced from your power converter into the ps2.

they are Ground Loop Isolators but nice try getting ebay education. This will work but greatly reduce output and quality of the signal but from the looks of the equipment he was going for volume and not clarity.

hold up it cant be the power inverter because it made the noise with no power going to the ps2 or power inverter. olny thing it can be is the rca's pickin up noise from somthing.

What you could try is running whats called a trace ground. Where you run a new ground wire (16 gauge would be fine) from your deck all the way back to your trunk and ground it with the ground for your 4-ch amp. If there is even a 1 volt difference in grounds, you will get engine noise. Make sure the ground for your amp is screwed directly to body metal (ie. trunk floor or floor pan under rear seat, etc.) with the paint scraped away.

I have two amps and an EQ (with inline power filters on the power wires) all running off the factory head unit and I have no engine noise.

I was gonna suggest that but forgot about this thread. lol A trace ground will remove any ground noise just like you said. I should have done mine that way, im starting to get a buzz in my system.
