Saleen 281 are SLOW
ya yesterday sabri and i were bored out of our minds to null the pain we hit the streets in search of a race. in our finding we come across a white mustang i think it was a cobra it had the factory crome wheels and that funny looking double wing. so we start messing with eachother as i look down i see sabri engage 18lbs viva profecB a stupid smile comes across our faces and the guys hot ass girlfriend gives us the eye right afer the guy downshifts and she just smiles sabri drops 4th(not even 3rd)and pulls right passed the guy. as we put a good schoolbus on this guy we stick our hands out the window and give him the thumbs down. he came back and his chick was asking sabri questions. it was kool.

Nope. All Saleen cars start with the S regardless of a supercharger with the exception of the SR351. The S281 and the S351 had both N/A and supercharged versions. The supercharged badge on the back and sometimes the cowl tell them apart. Also look for the dual guages centered on the top of the dash.

he wouldnt have touched an S281E
unless he can run low 12s
E is a designator for the eaton blown version
I dont recall how to determine the centrifugally blown version

Actually the E is for Extreme. It has the same blower as the S281 supercharged versions only with more boost and goodies.
Anyway I just cruised by Brandon Ford the other day and saw several non-supercharged S281s with gauge pods in the middle of the dash.
The largest thing that hinders the S281s that are supercharged is the rear gear. Saleen had to put a 3.08 rear gear set in the car to get it to pass EPA milage tests where you can get anywhere from a 3.27 to a 3.73 in the n/a versions. As a result they can be quite doggy and end up only minorly faster than the n/a versions. I know of quite a few running around with no real concern of gas milage if you know what I am stepping in. One such car has the following:
12psi pulley
longtube headers no cats
3.73 rear gears
Nitto Drag radials
a few misc mods
11 second time slip

Just remember all are not the same. Nor are they at their full potential. So before anyone thinks to say again man those things are dogs and wastes of money consider the above. There is always another side of the coin.
