leakdown test.

compression test won't always indicate a blown HG esp if its pressurizing into another cylinder. Do the leakdown, you can find if it's creeping into the block (via oil pan/crank ventilation) or into the cooling system or whatnot.

and that sucks man. it was a good run, guess now you can come back stronger.

How can you tell if you've got a blow head gasket or busted rings/piston ?
as a sign of good faith here is some help. do a compression test (make sure tb is held at WOT) then put a couple of caps full of oil into each cylinder and test again. if the pressure jumps up a good amount it the rings. if not its the hg.

good luck my friend

im sure the car has a metal mls head gasket, they do not leak or blow like a standard gasket, they only lift when presure is too great then when the car is off the will seal back up and work normal, making many tests hard to do, is you coolant level low? i would use a simple coolant dye they sell at napa, a few drops in your overflow tank and the dye will tell you if theres any combustion residue in it, that is the easiest and simplest way to test the head gasket

excuse me? NO...you can definitley blow a mhg...especially if you are running TOO MUCH BOOST AND/OR NITROUS ON PUMP GAS...ahem....

im not here to argue with you over the internet, im here to share real world advise, i use mls style gaskets in all my set ups, ive lifted heads before and the gaskets have leaked, when the car cooled down they sealed perfect, ive pulled the gaskets and they had no signs of blow thru to a water jacket or another cylinder at all, it was a simple case of the head bolts stretching to much from the high cylinder pressure, sourskittle has been racing his car every week for the last 3 years, if it broke then it broke no need to ruin his thread with your internet arguments so you can try to prove a point

I've blown mhg's and have seen many blow.OOO and for the record many of them were due to overboosting or being an idiot on pumpgas.
