You may have witnesses but you are not actually spinning it to 7k rpms. What I was saying is the stock tach is normally WAY off as the revs go up. On my 87 lx I could shift at 6800 on the stock tach and it was only really 6000.

Seriously, 7k on stock valvetrain just won't last, especially if you have any mileage on the engine.

Do you own a Torch Red FRC and tremble every time you drive under I75 on Hwy 60 and look in your rearview mirror? If so you are suffering from what is known as Cobraphobia.

Not only will it not last, it won't get there to begin with because the computer shuts off the fuel at 6250 rpm. I agree with you Steve, the stock tach sucks tremendously and its only function should be to indicate if the engine is running. Beyond that, it doesn't know what's going on.

k .. i normally shift at 5,000 .. so maybe i should be shifting at 6,000rpms normally since it is probably off 400 or 500 rpms? and modular matt .. thanks for summing it up .. "So 5Liter gets owned"
..
but i dont call that owned at all, in the 1/4 it probably runs a 13.4 .. and i couldnt have been more than .2-.3 tenths off of him. and chris ... ya, i know about the mach .. it wouldnt suprise me .. what suprised me is being ahead of u at all. ive driven a mach, ive felt the power lol. and like my 5.0, it gets off the line hard, but after first gear it continues to pull hard where mine just kinda falls off the map.

We'll have some fun. Bring it to the Track Night.
