What VW do you drive?
For the record, I don't claim to know everything about the watercooled cars. My specialty is the aircooled models.
I couldn't remember if they continued the 2.0l into the Mk4 GTI or not. I thought they went back to offering only the VR6 (like early Mk3's). But I did know that the 1.8Ts came at a later date.
Oh well, I learned my one new thing for the day.

i don't care if there are MK4 2.0l GTI's, honestly. that's what the two door golf is for. but of course, they also had the four door Golf 1.8t's. honestly, i don't see the point. the GTI is supposed to be the "sport" version of the Golf, yet they made 2.0 GTI's and 1.8t Golfs...
to me... if it's 6 cylinder or turbo it's a GTI (grand touring injection)... and if it's a 2.0 it's a golf, but you can call it a GTI if you want. i know Robb's is a GTI (and garry's). Robb's is also supercharged
not sure why volkswagen did this. pretty odd if you ask me.
just my $.02
