95 gti wont start
so i got my first vw its a 95 vw golf with the 2.8 vr6 and it wont start...was told the timing was off and that was the reasoning it has a new ign. coil new plugs and new wires...it tries to start every couple of times but other than that nothing...is there anyway i can check the timing without pulling the whole top of the motor off?

yea ive got fuel and spark it tries to start every couple of turns and it back fires a couple of times as well which points me towards timing

how can i check them? from what ive been reading i have to take the intake off to get the valve cover off and how do i check the bottom? the timing chain is on the trans side right?
