Default The Symptoms

soo i thought my car had bad valve seals. its a mk2 16v.. as far as i know its all stock but my point is it seems like its running rich or something. because it smokes if i romp it or at start off. another person told me it could be a vacume problem. the motor doesnt smoke alot unless i dump the gas and ride it over 4k. it seems almost like it dumps a bunch of gas into the motor and has to burn the extra off. (if it were runnin rich) i just figured id ask and see if anyone has some input. it not really a big deal. the smoke also smells like gas not oil and it doesnt eat oil.. the motor doesnt seem to get hot, i check the temp gage in my cluster (which works) and idk im just not really sure and anything would help thanks

the 16vs are CIS, not regular EFI, your ECU does not control fuel output like later EFI vws. your fuel pressure regulator is built in to your mechanical fuel distributor and is possible that it is bad. i've seen it before, had the same kinda problem in the 16v that i used to have, replaced the fuel distributor and it was fine. kind of expensive though so do some more research before you go spending money. hope that helps

Yea thanks for the input jettahead lmao. But hmm that actually sounds kind of right to me. I mean i guess I'll have to look at it after doin some research. Would it be easier to just update the fuel system? Idk prices and stuff for this so idk what's better.
