There are mixed reports many people say keeping the stock airbox and just modifying it is the best way to go.

Do you mean removing the butterfly section or resonator of the intake? Or are V-dubs not the same as hondas in that manner?

stock airbox with a K&N panel and theres no butterfly valve....p-flow is good but with the turbo under the hood its gonna suck in to much hot air

home made CAI but thats not fun...a chip will give you more performance than anything...most of the faster streetable audis/vws usually run a p-flow...or stock airbox with a K&N..you can modify the Audi one alittle to make it better..not sure about GTI though

From what Ive read on VWVortex.com a k&n panel filter works well on the 1.8T. Of course you must take into account things such as outside air temp engine temp bla bla. me go sleepy now.

You are going to get +0 HP from any sort of cone intake for that engine.

You MIGHT feel a bit of pep with a panel filter...but you arent going to get that fun sound
