5 lug conversion on a 2.0
anybody done a 5 lug conversion on a 1997 mk3 gti or similar 4 lug vw? can anyone point me to a link?
on a side note im back from NC proud to say the gti was a helluva lot more comfortable driving for 10 hours than the z3 only complaint is the lumbar support in the seats.

I dont think there is a true difference between the 4 lug and 5 lug. Ive seen lots of cars pushing some power with only the 4 lug pattern. Unless you have a lot of money to blow I wouldnt bother with it.

There would be the benefit of better brakes (in some cases) and some wheels only come in 5x100 now. The other difference is that the lugs are 14mm thick versus 12mm thick.
On your car its simple to switch to 5x100. Since you have rear discs already you would just get new 5x100 rotors. There are a couple of different ways to go in the front. You can get the necessary suspension parts at a junkyard. Or there is a company that makes a 5x100 hub that will work in your hub carrier. It comes as a kit with rotors calipers and hubs. That way you dont have to worry about changing everything.
