anybody done a 5 lug conversion on a 1997 mk3 gti or similar 4 lug vw? can anyone point me to a link?

on a side note im back from NC proud to say the gti was a helluva lot more comfortable driving for 10 hours than the z3 only complaint is the lumbar support in the seats.

i dont understand why 5 lug is so much better tahn 4 lug? its just one more bolt to take off when you get a flat. i see no difference 4 lugs can hold a wheel on just as good as 5 lugs can

Audi uses a different lug spacing than VW. Golf/Jettas use 5x100 and the Passat/Audi uses 5x120.

I dont think there is a true difference between the 4 lug and 5 lug. Ive seen lots of cars pushing some power with only the 4 lug pattern. Unless you have a lot of money to blow I wouldnt bother with it.

damn john youre just johnny on the spot with the vw info arent you?

john: quick question you know what the back of a mkIII jetta looks like right? well is there a way to remove the inner tail lights? do they make a different plastic piece that once the inner tail lights are removed will cover up the hole of where they used to be? or do you have no idea what im talking about?

aha 700 sounds a little too pricey for less tail lights...rather have that nice little rag top
