Default Some GTI help..

Hey guys, I might be buying a 2000 GTI we're taking on trade, and just wanted some opinions/info. How reliable are these cars once they get to the 120k mark? What type of maintenance would be the main concern for this mileage, IE fuel pump going out or radiator needing to be replaced, etc. The car itself has 117k miles, 5 speed, MINT, and the lady thats trading it in is the original owner. She's owned it from new, it has all the service records and a good amount of major components have been changed already, but is there any common problems in that mileage frame to look for? Also how are these cars for mods as far as price-performance goes? I know their quick cars already and can get power, but how expensive are parts for these? I've been looking around at different suspension setup's, and some motor parts and they vary from dirt cheap to pretty expensive, so can you build a low 13 second car, maybe high 12 under $5,000 worth of parts? I'm buying the car for $2200, and figured if I upgrade the turbo, intercooler, exhaust/intake, port/polish the head, a good tune I can hopefully reach the high 200 hp range, and have some cash for a decent suspension and some good tires. I'd like some input from you VW guys if you will. Thanks

He mentioned upgrading the turbo, so I would assume it is a 1.8t.

If you like it, I say go for it.

sorry forgot about that. I don't have a ton of info on the car, I only took a quick look/drive of it. It is the 1.8T model. I figured since theres only 3 models and 1 being turbo, stating upgrading the turbo would of given it away.

2200 is a pretty good price. I would jump on it. With 5000 you can get pretty good numbers if you manage it right
