You know you can pull that cover back and inspect the belt for stress cracks and how the overall condition of the belt is.

When we got my wifes TT that was the first thing I checked.

I changes all the shit at 57000 miles on my jetta to be safe.

That would be smart to do that.

sometimes it just shears the teeth off the belt, Then people check it and its still intact and they dont know wtf happened

'00 w/67K, U? I'm not 100% sure that's the problem yet... waiting for the shop to call me. I was soo pissed that I just had it towed.

um yeh the timing belt didnt snap i floated all the valves he said he never saw this perticular thing happen something happened on cylinder 4 that was suppose to close and it didnt but something stayed open im sorry i tottally forgot exactly what he said but that caused head damages hes charging me 2500 for a new head and to fix everything

i bet the timing belt stripped the teeth then, around the crank, they do that all the time also,

Is it a manual? maybe you turned the motor backwards? maybe letting out on the clutch going reveres while it was in 1st?

sounds dumb but it does happen.

and it does float valves
