i have a problem yesterday when i was installing a new timing belt tensioner. i belive the belt slipped a to0th does anyone know what the symptoms of retarded or advanced cam timing would be ???

well if it skipped to many you would run ruff as hell so ruff that you more than likely wouldnt be able to keep the car running happened to a buddy of mine

Poor running engine detonation poor fuel mileage. And depending on the engine and how many teeth it slipped you could end up with bent valves. I dont think VWs are designed that way though.

well its running ok the fuel mileage is i guess a little higher at idle its rough but it idles fine driveability is better and its smo0ther up in the rpm range so i cant be far off im gonna try adjusting the timing and seeing if that helps the only real problem in having is a loss of power its not its normal balzy self and im pissed thanks guys!
