vw beetle problem

yeah it's driving normal, the light just keeps coming on. i actually don't remember if it was to lean or to rich. i'm gonna bring it to autozone to get the correct code this weekend. i'll see what they have to say and i'll post again after i get the right code.

yea I would do that, too rich and too lean is two total different worlds.

not necessary a small vacuum leak will cause a sporadic fault at idle and th car will still feel normal but he doesn't think is a vacuum leak get some body with a vag com that can get reading of the maf to see if it s the maf sensor or what

My guess is MAF sensor is going bad.

just because it is reading lean doesnt mean its actually reading lean, could be a faulty sensor, by Z is having the same issue. Both rear O2's are done and they keep saying the car is lean, when I know that my car is running very rich.

Get a different mechanic one that is more specialized and knows what he is doing. VWs are a special animal and a lot of special tools and knowledge are needed to repair them.
