The theory of a lightened flywheel is that the car will rev faster once moving and that the revs will drop quicker when shifting due to less rotational mass. I've driven a 12V with a 8 pound flywheel and other than having to ride the clutch to start, I didn't notice any difference in driving with the 12V that I had (which had a stock flywheel).
