Default Code P0341??????

okay...now I got a code for this darn thing...my broken down jetta..the code reads P0341 ...which I looked up and tells me its the Camshaft Position Sensor.....Has anybody ever had this code???? I have heard that this sensor might be the timing belt installed incorrectly....but also.....auto zone and others tell me its the camshaft position sensor can shut down my car if its broken....my car cranks..but wont start.... my question is....is it the timing that triggered the camshaft position sensor....or is it the camshaft position sensor itself that is dead........Any suggesitions.....anybody used these codes before and replaced parts according to these codes

What type of car is it? If the engine spins but sounds like it's spinning fast or has no compression it could be a broken t-belt. BUT, I need more details to give accurate diagnosis.
