Default jetta stalling

I have a friend with a 2.0 jetta and it feels like its going to stall out soon after starting and its pretty rough while accelerating lots of misfiring. I am assuming its the MAF. but does anyone have any other suggestions on what it could be?

could be a lot of things. has he done general maintenance items fuel filter, plugs.... Has it progressively gotten worse, or was it a night and day change for the worse?

Check Coilpack if Mk4 (I think the MK4 switched to coil), or Distributor if MK3. Could also be fuel system related.

yea I was calling around earlier in the day to see if anyone had one. I ended up calling a euro mechanic and he was like "yea bring it on in, it should only take a minute and its about $250" so yea, I wasent about to have her pay 250 just to run a vag com on it.

Go to Advanced Autoparts first and have them run the code and then just get an idea of what is going on. Also if it is a code they don't know, post it on vwvortex and someone can look it up in their Bentley.
