Go to Advanced Autoparts first and have them run the code and then just get an idea of what is going on. Also if it is a code they don't know, post it on vwvortex and someone can look it up in their Bentley.

Misfiring at startup could be the coil and or bad plugs or wires. You could wet test the ignition w/ a squirt/spray bottle. It's highly UNLIKELY the MAF is the problem w/ this symptom. (Everyone loves to blame the MAF for everything on these cars.)
The coil pack is also a common weak point on this ignition system. I've replaced quite a few for misfires and having an ignition DTC indicating open circuit that is sporadic in nature. Will look like this if it's sporadic..../sp.
