Default Dealership or Local VW shop?

Well my clutch is pretty much dead in my 96 GTI VR6. I dont know any local VW shop's that would be able to do it next week and the dealership is probably going to charge 600+ for labor alone. Any suggestions on local places (im new to the local VW scene)??

thank's in advance
