Default first mods?

So I've got my eye on this 2001 GTI GLS, 1.8T engine. I'll be calling tomorrow about financing options and whatnot. But I was curious, what would be the first mods I should do the the car? Aside from a tune up and having my mechanic go over it. Any input would be awesome.

Heh and fingers crossed on the lot still having the car tomorrow.

could not have put it better myself...but im not sure about the whole intercooler thing..i made a whole thread about replacing your IC...i would think replacing your IC would be good because the chip makes your run more boost and you are going to get hotter exhuast fumes=hotter turbo air=hotter air in your intake valve..making you loose power..so a upgraded IC should do good..but i never got a good responce about them...but do the chip..then exhuast. for sure.

I've had my car (01 Jetta 1.8T) on the Revo trial and was very impressed with the power (I want!) but when I really think about it, suspension needs my attention first so I will be buying a Koni coilover kit for it. I've heard many people say upgrading the suspension will make these cars much more fun to drive than upgrading the power at first, and I'm inclined to agree with them.

Thanks guys heh. I found out that the loans I qualify for (haven't gotten approved yet) Won't cover the cost of the car off the lot I was looking at. Which sucks. I'm still going to be looking for a 1.8T or at LEAST VR6 golf/maybe jetta around 7-8k. Until then, I've also got my eye on a 95 240sx from XAT racing.
