I'm looking for a reliable new car. I keep finding myself admiring 01 Jettas for some reason. I looked up consumer reports, and it gave them a horrible rating. Have you guys had any problems with them? i dont want to buy something that I will have to put a lot of repairs into. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

i know more people that have had normal problems and had it fixed under warranty, than i know that had major issues with the newer vw's. the mk4's are "known" for electrical problems. i've never owned a mk4 vw, so i don't know specifics. but if you don't need that new of a vw, i'd look into a mk3 vw, the only problem i had was with the window regulators. thats a common problem with mk3's, maybe mk4's.

 

my mk4 has never had any problems at all.. but it also only has 7k miles....also if u get one get a vr6

 

yea, i would recommend a vr6 also. seems like boost leaks always develope on 1.8t's

Can't go wrong with a VR. All of my VR6's have never let me down.

 

dont hate on the 1.8t...i got 55k on mine with no problems other than my stupidity

Mk3 Vr6 Golf.
Not as much power stock as a newer VR6.. But damnit the body I think is better. Hell At 200hp from my Vr6 for a 98.. Its peppy.. Fun to drive alittle fast..

 

i cant really say anything since im looking for a vr6 for my mk2 gli
