Default 2.0 8v?

i have a 91 jetta GL coup and i wanted to bore it out and put 16v gti pistons in and get the head rebuilt and ported and polished,cam and wat not and i was wondering if the 16v pistons will fit on the 8v connecting rods? i just hit the vw scene so if this is a bad idea lmk thanks, i was going to do a vr swap but alot of $ at one time

I would just swap the 2.0 16v in or a ABA motor. You could use the 16v pistons in your 8v motor, but they are not required if you are only boring out the motor, if you plan on swaping the 8v head for a 16v head, you will need the 16v pistons. You could use ABA pistons (2.0 8v) also if just boring.
