Default 1999 VR6 help

My friend has a 99 VR6. He gets a sound like the clutch is slipping and makes a scretching sound when he revs the engine at idel. I'm sure its no the clutch it just sound slike it. He took it to some mechani and the cat said its was the pully. anyone here seen any problems with any of the pullys on a 99 VR6?

and are the pullys in this car hard to get to? if one needed changing...

Thanks

Squealing/Screetching is typicaly the accessory belt. Have him check it to see if the belt is wearing (cracking, smooth spots, etc). They are relatively easy to change.

Waterpump/waterpump pulley, or the belt tensioner unit may be the culprit too. And definitely check the belt first like GTIXpress said.
