It's not about getting paid at the end of the day, it's about getting retribution. It's not about laying down and taking the hits, it's about picking your battles.
I don't care if you take him to court or you wait for him to be alone in the parking lot and come at him with a baseball bat. You can keep your pride at the end of the day as long as you feel the score is even. But to SOME people pride is important. And part of sitting there and let some asshole with a minum wage wanabe power position take your shit and hit you "just because he can" would take your pride. I for example, would loose a lot of respect for myself had i known i couldnt even stand up for myself i sat there and let someone beat me down take my shit while i stared at them. But again, to some people getting your shit taken, taken a few punches to the face is fine as long you get a couple of dollars out of fine. Pride and self respect arent what they use to be.

To me I would question someones intelligence if they were to try and win that battle, and for me If I were to fight back and get seriously injured I would question my own intelligence. I guess its just how your brought up, you would question your own pride, I would question my intelligence.

there is a huge difference between bravery and courage.
courage is willing to endure the consiquence with out hesitation
and bravery is KNOWING the consquence and still be willing to do what needs to be done (something like that)....
if your pride hasn't been dinged up on the trail of life then you ain't living then ......
