I plan on building a naturally aspirated b series vtec engine with 200+ horsepower and torque to the wheels ONE DAY Although it will not be cheap at all. Is it cheaper to buy a k series type r and equip it with minor bolton's or build a b series and shoot for let's say 230 to the wheels naturally aspirated? Let's not forget the h series motors. I'm thinking the b series but i could be wrong and it really depends on what you plan on using it for the prices you get and labor. But generally speaking. Discuss.

I'm not sure you will ever see 200ft torque with a N/A setup.

And 230 to the wheels N/A is Very expensive.

You are right, i have VERY seldomly seen 200+ out of a 4 cylinder naturally aspirated motor. And 230 to the wheels naturally aspirated is very expensive also but what do you think would be more expensive? To build up a B or H series motor to this capacity or swap a k series type r and bolton's?

Of course with the K series motors such as the K20A2 it is easier to obtain the power we are speaking of but the question is would it be cheaper? I'm talking about buying it, bolton's, than swapping into let's say a DC chassis.

Also the K series frankenstein combinations such as the K20A2 head or K20 type r head combined with a K24 bottom end provide 200+ hp and torque with very little if any modifications but the question is would this be cheaper? The K series are relatively new compared to the B and H series motors so therefore the performance upgrades are obviously more expensive since it's new and wanted technology. Would building and tuning a older motor to the K series numbers render less expensive? Help me out people!

It depends on how you look at it, it is more expensive in terms of getting the swap and installing it. But by the time you get close to the power of a K20 with a B-series engine the K would have been cheaper. Hope that makes sense... Also the K20a2 will take you further in performance than any B or H series engine ever will stock block for stock block. Besides H series engines makes the smaller cars to front heavy and cause the front end to drift around turns unless you have sticky tires up front.

The K is the way!

So if you are going for all motor power the k series gives you most bang for your buck?
