The first production turbocharged automobile engines came from General Motors in 1962. The A-body Oldsmobile Cutlass Jetfire and Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder were both fitted with turbochargers.

This video shows a 9 second 150+ mph Mustang that is driven on the street... My 89 mustang coupe running the 1/4 mile at over 150 mph on 17 inch drag radials. The car is street driven all the time. - Video
And there were turboed Mustangs from the factory in the 80's. SVO 4 cylinders...it's not "import" inspired to have a turbo...it's just a good way to boost power to any motor..including deisel trucks and Semi's...turbo's aren't just for imports...

muscle head only supercharge, blower or nitrous for years never went turbo till ricently . like the svo wasnt a true muscle car it was made because of fuel price .

This is about were I'm going to leave that issue alone, because everyone including I can come up with a bunch of headach causing excuses about whats a street car and whats not. Apples and Oranges.....
You are however correct in your turbo statements but sense you seem to know some much , Who started going fast on them first? Just a question no pissing match intended.
