if you fall in the water fishing, you deserve to be in the water with something like that. you have a drag on the reel for a reason. plus the line would break before you got yanked in. its only 30-50lb test line they use. some go heavier but you lose distance availability (which when the tarpon 1st hits, they usually run quite hard and by the time your done reeling in the other poles they have sucked out 100+ yards of line)

i doubt it, that looks like they are down around Boca. i dont hardly see any hammerheads around sp beach (which is where your all thinking this is) tend to see them in 10-12' water and alot closer to the channels. and more predominantly around anna maria/holmes beach
that tarpon was no 140lbs...it was small, maybe 110ish at best. i've never seen such poor tarpon fishing in my life, but i guess since it was kids, its kinda ok. they should have let the tarpon free spool and ran with it if they wanted to keep it on the line...personally when they coulda touched the leader they should have cut it and let it run.

it is in boca he goes down there all the time his name is bob he enters alot of the tarpon touraments(sp) along with my step dad that is also a carter capt.
