Weldenator
used it again today to help a friend out
used the grinder to clean the surfaces and welded 8 welds on a bushhog out in a field
and the tiller implement by the garden used 4 welds and the grinder
so figure 3\4 of a 1\8 6011 rod for each weld give or take and the weldenator did get warm but about the same temp as the one running the jeep i think this thing has earned it's cost in peace of mind knowing that i can weld almost anything any where

throw a dc/ac rectifier into the circuit and you can get true ac, a 1 to 1 ratio rectifier is less then $20 , dc (+) and (-) input = hot and neutral of equal input. 90-120 volt dc in = 90-120 volt ac out put. nice set up, +1.
i dont think it works like that
i know the altinator starts off as a three phase AC gen and is rectified in to dc by a diode pack but to go back the other way you must do alot more than hook it up backwards
it would be like puting a check valve in wrong in a fuel line it just would not work
let alone the phase or frequency and magnitude
but hell i dont know damn China parts do all kinds of shit now a days
now keep it from the rectifier and you have 3 phase AC but the frequency sounds close to 400 hz range and would have to be rewound

im a electrician for 23 years and weld alot also, you cant get 3 phase from a alternator, 3 phase is 3 seperate power sources of the the same voltage, from seperate power sources, also where I work at a chemical plant, he have alot of dc powered systems, and we run dc rectifiers all over the place due to we have power failures, and have back up battery power banks, you can run a dc rectifier that converts dc to ac voltage , its a common practice, also i recommended going to 1:1 ratio rectifier due to your voltage/amperage range, they make a varied range of size conversions, you can get them that would convert 12 volt dc to 240 ac, but you amperage would be less then half , its higher voltage-less amperage or lower voltage-higher amps, its just like a power convertor that you can buy to plug into your cigarette light that you can run ac devices like a laptop, small tv or whatever, but off the alternator on a different scale, hope this helps.
its still a cool set up you have.

also a dc to ac rectifier is not like a check valve in which something runs in one direction and not the other, it can be hooked up either direction, in electrical work a check valve for electricity is called a volt trap, in which power can not feed back into a circuit, in which like a power house for teco , in which IF it feed back , it would back feed into there generators and short out there windings
also try useing some 6013 rods, I am sure you will find they will weld better for you,
hope all this helps or at least informational.

well, what i got works great thanks
thank you for the information you supplied that will keep me busy for a bit cuz i did not \ still don't get it yet (did not think that was possable)
but dont really need the ac that i know of
again welds great so far and was a great mod for the price and use factor.
