EVENT SUBMISSION TIPS: A complete and enticing submission is guarantee to attract more show vehicles and spectators. Follow these suggestions for a better and more rewarding event:

• Do not write in all caps. It suggests screaming to some people.
• Include the pre and post registration fees, if applicable.
• The venue is the named physical location where the event is held, not the name of the show.
• Let the potential attendees know what to expect and why they should come. In the description box, include elements such as:
  • Who is the hosting organizer?
  • Is there a benefitting charity?
  • Are there awards, door prizes, 50/50 drawings, giveaways, games, etc?
  • Any DJ music, band, or dance entertainment?
  • Are there vendor or sponsorship opportunities?
  • Is the event children or pet friendly?
  • It is rain or shine?
• Should attendees have questions, please include a phone number or email address.

Route 66 Santa Rosa, Tucumcari, Moriarty New Mexico Museums

Located directly across from the famous Blue Swallow Motel, this quirky shop represents classic roadside architecture at its finest, complete with vibrant murals and an oversized skeleton perched on a truck outside. The teepee entrance was added in the late 1950s when Route 66 was widened, transforming what was once a gas station into one of the most photographed stops on the Mother Road. Inside, you’ll find an incredible selection of Southwest and Route 66 souvenirs, from pottery and jewelry to postcards and pins, all while owners Gar and Heidi Engman share their local knowledge. Don’t forget to grab a photo with the Clint Eastwood cutout inside, it’s become a beloved tradition among visitors. The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 8 AM to 6 PM, and Sundays until 3 PM.

Route 66 Auto Museum – Santa Rosa, NM

Owner James “Bozo” Cordova, who’s custom-built over 150 vehicles during his four-decade career, often provides personal guided tours filled with fascinating stories about each car’s history. At just $5 admission, this museum offers incredible value for the experience, and serious collectors might even find a vehicle available for purchase. The gift shop stocks everything from decorative souvenirs to small car models and authentic Route 66 road signs. Plan to spend at least an hour here, the detailed craftsmanship and passion behind each restoration will captivate you longer than expected.

Lewis Antique Auto & Toy Museum – Moriarty, NM

Lewis Antique Auto & Toy MuseumThis sprawling 8-acre wonderland houses one of the most impressive private collections you’ll encounter on Route 66, featuring over 700 vintage automobiles and more than 1,000 toy trucks, trains, and tractors. Archie Lewis spent 60 years amassing this incredible collection before relocating it to Moriarty in 2003, and he and his wife Beth are often on-site to share their extensive knowledge with visitors. The museum’s claim to fame includes one of the largest collections of unrestored Crosley vehicles, alongside everything from early Ford models to muscle cars from the 1960s and 70s. Since visits are by appointment only for $10 admission, you’ll need to call ahead, but this ensures a more personal experience in this nostalgic time capsule. The indoor exhibits featuring Lionel Trains and Buddy L Trucks will transport you straight back to mid-20th century Americana. There are several Route 66 museums found along the historic route stretching across the country, but none of them quite compare to the passion instilled in the Route 66 Auto Museum in Santa Rosa. The museum is a haven for car enthusiasts and those interested in re-living a pivotal era in automobile history.

Route 66 Auto Museum started as a business for restoring cars, and it has operated for over 40 years. The owner, Bozo Cordova, grew his passion for vehicles alongside his family to create one of the top local attractions.

The intimate museum setting is perfect for visitors to:

The Route 66 Auto Museum features retro, vintage, classics, street rods, and much more in a condition like you wouldn’t expect. The restoration expertise of the owner brings the cars back to their original glory. You’ll find like-new condition Corvettes, Mustangs, Roadsters, COE trucks, Woodys, etc., all boasting fresh paint jobs and chrome shiny enough to see your reflection.

Guided tours are available (and recommended for large groups). During these tours, you’ll get a personal walk around the garage from the owner and hear stories about each of the cars. It’s a great way to learn about the history of Route 66 and the iconic vehicles that drove it.

Another Vintage CarAfter exploring the car collection, head inside the museum’s Route 66 gift shop at the front to shop some of the memorabilia. Visitors can find some decorative souvenirs of the historical route and even small car models.

It’s easy to spend just as much time inside the gift shop while walking amongst the vintage Route 66 road signs and other signage collected over the years. There is even a small diner reminiscent of the 50s where you can grab a quick bite before heading back out onto the road.

For those really into cars, some of them on display are for sale to take home the best souvenir you could imagine.

Join a local event

The Route 66 Auto Museum is more than just a place to explore the past; it also brings the Route 66 experience back to life by hosting various events. The events are a great way to connect with other local car enthusiasts and even hang out with the owner. Be sure to check when upcoming events are happening if you’re visiting town so that you can take part in them.
