PLEASE NOTE: Auto-related events and your event flyers are always published free of charge. Submissions deemed not in the interest of the auto-related event community will not be published, nor will they be acknowledged. Once your event has been accepted, please review it, and make us aware of any changes that are necessary. At the discretion of New Mexico Car Events, your submissions may be edited for clarity, content, and length.

EVENT SUBMISSION TIPS: A complete and enticing submission is guarantee to attract more show vehicles and spectators. Follow these suggestions for a better and more rewarding event:

Do not write in all caps. It suggests screaming to some people.
Include the pre and post registration fees, if applicable.
The venue is the named physical location where the event is held, not the name of the show.
Let the potential attendees know what to expect and why they should come. In the description box, include elements such as:
- Who is the hosting organizer?
- Is there a benefitting charity?
- Are there awards, door prizes, 50/50 drawings, giveaways, games, etc?
- Any DJ music, band, or dance entertainment?
- Are there vendor or sponsorship opportunities?
- Is the event children or pet friendly?
- It is rain or shine?
Should attendees have questions, please include a phone number or email address.
Sometimes web addresses produce an error, if so, leave it blank and directly email us the address. Email to Bobfixesitup@yahoo.com
If there is a dedicated Facebook event page; copy and paste the direct address link.
Flyers designed as JPGs and PNGs can be uploaded directly but PDF or Word must be emailed directly to us for conversion.

Located directly across from the famous Blue Swallow Motel, this quirky shop represents classic roadside architecture at its finest, complete with vibrant murals and an oversized skeleton perched on a truck outside. The teepee entrance was added in the late 1950s when Route 66 was widened, transforming what was once a gas station into one of the most photographed stops on the Mother Road. Inside, you’ll find an incredible selection of Southwest and Route 66 souvenirs, from pottery and jewelry to postcards and pins, all while owners Gar and Heidi Engman share their local knowledge. Don’t forget to grab a photo with the Clint Eastwood cutout inside, it’s become a beloved tradition among visitors. The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 8 AM to 6 PM, and Sundays until 3 PM.

Lewis Antique Auto & Toy Museum – Moriarty, NM

Lewis Antique Auto & Toy MuseumThis sprawling 8-acre wonderland houses one of the most impressive private collections you’ll encounter on Route 66, featuring over 700 vintage automobiles and more than 1,000 toy trucks, trains, and tractors. Archie Lewis spent 60 years amassing this incredible collection before relocating it to Moriarty in 2003, and he and his wife Beth are often on-site to share their extensive knowledge with visitors. The museum’s claim to fame includes one of the largest collections of unrestored Crosley vehicles, alongside everything from early Ford models to muscle cars from the 1960s and 70s. It’s not just a drive—it’s a step back into the golden age of American road trips, where every mile tells a story. Starting in Kingman Kingman serves as a gateway to this historic journey. Known for its deep ties to Route 66 history, the town is filled with vintage motels, classic diners, and museums that celebrate the road’s legacy. It’s the perfect place to fuel up—both your vehicle and your sense of nostalgia—before heading into the mountains.

The Climb Through the Black Mountains Leaving Kingman, the road quickly transforms into a winding, narrow climb through the rugged Black Mountains. This portion of Route 66 is not for the faint of heart. With tight switchbacks, steep grades, and no guardrails in some sections, it demands your attention—but rewards you with breathtaking desert views. At the heart of this stretch is the legendary Sitgreaves Pass, where elevations rise to over 3,500 feet. From the top, you’ll get sweeping views of the desert below, making it one of the most photographed spots along Route 66.

A Drive Frozen in Time Unlike modern highways, this segment has been preserved in much of its original form. It’s narrow, twisting, and full of character—exactly how Route 66 was meant to be experienced. You won’t find fast traffic here. Instead, you’ll find classic cars, motorcycles, and travelers soaking in the history. Rolling into Oatman As the road descends, you’ll arrive in Oatman—a former gold mining town that feels like a living time capsule. freely: wild burros, descendants of the pack animals used by miners over a century ago. Oatman leans into its Old West charm, offering staged gunfights, quirky shops, and a laid-back, slightly wild atmosphere that perfectly matches the spirit of Route 66.

Going to pin down the numbers and shoot the bull until we freeze at 6PM.
You bet we are getting it down to about 200 miles a day travel time and of course sleep overnight.
Six different rendezvous spots so everybody can stay together, yet go at their own speed.

VW van run in the morning, and at 3Pm Route 66 at Mesilla Mall JCPenny lot
