Parler CEO John Matze Announces His Termination

Parler investor Dan Bongino disputes Matze's statement over version of events

PrintParler CEO John Matze announced late Wednesday that he has been terminated as the company’s CEO.

Matze said that the Parler board on Jan. 29 decided to terminate his position, adding that he did not participate in the decision.

The Parler board is controlled by Rebekah Mercer, the daughter of hedge-fund billionaire Robert Mercer.

Matze said in a memo obtained by The Epoch Times, “I understand that those who now control the company have made some communications to employees and other third parties that have unfortunately created confusion and prompted me to make this public statement.

“Over the past few months, I’ve met constant resistance to my product vision, my strong belief in free speech and my view of how the Parler site should be managed. For example, I advocated for more product stability and what I believe is a more effective approach to content moderation,” Matze added.

Matze said that he plans on taking a few weeks off.

“After that, I’ll be looking for new opportunities where my technical acumen, vision, and the causes I am passionate about will be required and respected,” he said.

“I want to thank the Parler employees, the people on Parler and Parler supporters for their tireless work and devotion to the company. They are an amazing group of diverse, hardworking, and talented individuals and I have the utmost respect for them. Many of them have become my second family,” Matze added.

“I want to thank all the people of Parler that supported me and the platform. This has been the true American Dream: an idea from a living room to a company of considerable value. I’m not saying goodbye, just so long for now.”

Fox News was first to report on Matze’s termination.

Matze told Reuters that he had not been given a settlement. He added that Parler now has an “executive committee” consisting of Matthew Richardson and Mark Meckler.

Mercer, Richardson, Meckler, and Parler did not immediately respond to requests for comment by Reuters.

Dan Bongino, a conservative media personality and Parler investor, in a Facebook video disputed Matze’s version of events surrounding his termination.

“Let me be crystal clear on this. He [Matze] makes two points, that ‘oh I was a big advocate for free speech it was my vision’ and “I was a big advocate for product stability.’ That is not true. That is not true. That is false,” Bongino said, referring to the memo.

Bongino said that there were two separate visions for the company and that “the relationship with Parler and the CEO did not work out because the CEO’s vision was not ours.”

“Our vision was crystal clear,” he said. “We needed to get up and fight back some terrible decisions were made in the past that led to this—that led us to getting put down by Amazon and others. It was us—me and the two other owners—that were constantly on the side of ‘this site was going to be a free speech platform’ or it was going to be nothing.”

“Folks, we could have been up after Apple Amazon and Google wiped us out, we could have been up in a week if we just would’ve bent the knee and followed all the ridiculous Apple edicts to become a heavy moderation site to the left of Twitter,” Bongino noted. “That’s not what we’re going to do. We don’t want to want garbage on our site either and we took the proper steps to do that. But we were a free speech site and we’ll remain as such and that’s why it’s taken so long to get back up.”

Bongino said that Matze’s statement “is an outrageous attack on people who have done nothing but work day and night to get this site back up and to fight back against these cancel culture goons. And to get knee-capped like this by someone we trusted is a disgrace.”

In early January, Parler was removed from the Apple and Google‘s app stores due to what the two big tech giants alleged was a lack of moderation by the Parler of violent content posted by its users—a claim that Parler denies.

The targeted moderation by the companies appeared to be triggered by the civil unrest and acts of violence that occurred at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. Apple has said that people used Parler to coordinate a breach of the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6. Google, in suspending Parler from its app store, cited a post on Parler that began “How do we take back our country? About 20 or so coordinated hits” and another promoting a “Million Militia March” on Washington.

In a statement, Matze said in response to the suspensions, “Anyone who buys an Apple phone is apparently a user … Apparently they believe Parler is responsible for ALL user generated content on Parler. Therefore, by the same logic, Apple must be responsible for ALL actions taken by their phones. Every car bomb, every illegal cell phone conversation, every illegal crime committed on an iPhone.

“Standards not applied to Twitter, Facebook, or even Apple themselves, apply to Parler,” he added.

Shortly after, on Jan. 10, Amazon removed Parler from its web hosting services due to what Amazon said was Parler’s “repeated violations” of Amazon’s terms of service.

“Over the past several weeks, we’ve reported 98 examples to Parler of posts that clearly encourage and incite violence,” Amazon told a representative from Parler in January, in an email obtained by The Epoch Times.

Parler has been offline since. Its efforts to relaunch before February were not successful due to reasons unknown.

Parler sued Amazon on Jan. 11 and demanded that Amazon restore its web hosting services. U.S. District Judge Barbara Rothstein on Jan. 21 rejected Parler’s request.

Matze previously told The Epoch Times in mid-January that his company’s terms of service were approved by Apple, Amazon, and Google.

The technology giants had never indicated non-compliance, for the most part, before Parler saw an explosion of growth that occurred following the Twitter bans of prominent conservatives, including President Donald Trump. The wave of new arrivals left Parler scrambling to moderate its platform, Matze said.

He said that he believed the big tech companies’ decision against Parler is a “coordinated attack” to “kill competition in the market place.”

“We were too successful too honest, too fast,” he added.

House Democrats Seek to Strip GOP Rep. Greene From Committees

House Democratic Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said in a statement on Feb. 3, “I spoke to [House Republican Leader Kevin] McCarthy this morning, and it is clear there is no alternative to holding a Floor vote on the resolution to remove Rep. Greene from her committee assignments.”

The proposal, sponsored by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), would remove Greene from her assignments on the House Education and Labor and House Budget committees for the remainder of the congressional session.

Hoyer told reporters at the Capitol in Washington that McCarthy (R-Calif.) “made a decision and we’re going to move forward.”

“I don’t know specifically what he’s going to do,” Hoyer said.

Spokespeople in McCarthy’s office and Greene’s office didn’t immediately respond to requests by The Epoch Times for comment.

Greene, on Feb. 3, said Democrats are engaging in a “mob cancel campaign” and said mainstream media outlets are refusing to share her rebuttals.

“They are only set out to destroy Republicans, your jobs, our economy, your children’s education and lives, steal our freedoms, and erase God’s creation,” she wrote.

This week, several Republican leaders took aim at Greene—including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who accused her of trafficking in “loony lies and conspiracy theories,” saying it’s a “cancer” for the Republican Party.






“Somebody who’s suggested that perhaps no airplane hit the Pentagon on 9/11, that horrifying school shootings were pre-staged, and that the Clintons crashed JFK Jr.’s airplane is not living in reality,” McConnell said. “This has nothing to do with the challenges facing American families or the robust debates on substance that can strengthen our party.”

But Greene said the “real cancer” is McConnell and the “weak Republicans who only know how to lose gracefully,” adding, “This is why we are losing our country.”

On Jan. 30, Greene said she has the support of former President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, a number of Republicans in the House, including prominent members such as Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), have supported Greene.

“I had a GREAT call with my all time favorite POTUS, President Trump!” she wrote in a series of Twitter posts. “I’m so grateful for his support and more importantly, the people of this country are absolutely 100% loyal to him because he is 100% loyal to the people and America First.”

The former president’s office didn’t immediately respond to a request by The Epoch Times for comment.

“I won’t back down. I’ll never apologize. And I’ll always keep fighting for the people. For me, it’s America First!!!” she wrote over the past weekend. “America Last policies are policies for sell outs and losers.”

Trump Impeachment Lawyer: ‘Stolen’ Election Claims Won’t Be Brought Up During Trial

PrintAn attorney for former President Donald Trump said he won’t bring up claims about election fraud while defending the former president during the upcoming impeachment trial.

“There are plenty of questions about how the election was conducted throughout the country, but that’s for a different forum, and I don’t believe that’s important to litigate in the Senate trial because you don’t need it,” attorney Bruce Castor told KYW Newsradio Philadelphia. “President Trump has plenty to win with what he has.”

Castor also pushed back against reports that Trump parted ways with his initial legal team about whether they would advance his claims about election fraud.

“I don’t know where people got that notion that was some sort of litmus test to get to defend the president, because as you saw from the document I filed, which had to be approved by the president personally, there isn’t anything in there about the election being stolen,” Castor said. It looks like more democrat untrue BS.

Castor and fellow Trump lawyer David Schoen filed a response to House Democratic impeachment managers on Feb. 2, arguing that the impeachment trial is unconstitutional because Trump doesn’t currently hold office. They also argued that Trump has a First Amendment right to express his views about the accuracy of the election results.

Democrats argued that Trump’s speech wasn’t constitutionally protected and said it incited an insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6,
although the actual words spoken by Pres Trump have been suppressed by Fake News.

If Trump really said something inciteful,, why hasn't it been on the news every 5 minutes, like everything else? Why hasn't there been anything said at all about words from Maxine Waters, Joe Biden and many other democrats, who DEFINITELY were inciting violence? Is this just one more attempt to attack Pres Trump when Trump has been banned from all social media, and is not allowed to speak at all?

“Just because somebody gave a speech and people got excited, it doesn’t mean it’s the speechmaker’s fault—it’s the people who got excited and did what they know is wrong,” Castor said in pushing back against Democrats, referring to Trump’s remarks to a crowd on Jan. 6.

“There are statutes that deal with incitement to riot, and it’s not even close that the president engaged in what would be considered criminal conduct,” he said, according to Radio.com. “Then there’s a test called the Brandenburg test set down by the Supreme Court. I analyzed that at length, and that isn’t even close to met. I don’t believe there’s a chance in the world they’re going to be able to demonstrate he committed those crimes, or even anything approaching them.

“The president deplores the violence at the Capitol, and those people should be punished, aggressively, as I would have done as if I was the DA and they did it at the Montgomery County courthouse. But just because somebody gave a speech and people got excited, it doesn’t mean it’s the speechmaker’s fault. It’s the people who got excited and did what they know is wrong.”

Based on a vote last week—in which 45 Republican senators rejected holding an impeachment trial outright—it appears unlikely that Trump will be convicted. Many Republican senators agreed that it would be unconstitutional to convict a former president who doesn’t hold office.
Especially since the purpose of impeachment is to remove a president from office.

At least 17 Republican senators would have to join Democrats to convict a president in a Senate trial.

Democrats, meanwhile, argued in their Feb. 2 brief that Trump deserves a conviction because he shouldn’t be able to hold office in the future....or is it that Trump shouldn't hold office and therefore deserves a conviction. With democrats does it matter?

Trump’s impeachment trial is scheduled to begin the week of Feb. 8.

PrintBritain and Japan on Wednesday expressed “serious concerns” over the situation in the East and South China Seas and their common opposition to the Chinese regime’s unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force.

At a virtual meeting with their Japanese counterparts Toshimitsu Motegi and Nobuo Kishi, UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace and Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab discussed the planned deployment of the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth to the Indo-Pacific region later this year.






In a joint statement, the four ministers agreed that Japan and the UK are “global strategic partners who share a fundamental commitment to core values of freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law and are each other’s closest security partners in Europe and Asia respectively.”

They confirmed their commitment to maintaining regional security and upholding the rules-based international order, as well as their opposition to “attempts to coerce others in the region including by economic means.”

The ministers expressed “serious concerns” about the situation in the East China Sea and South China Sea and “strongly opposed any unilateral attempts to change the status quo and increase tensions,” said the joint statement.

(Matt Cardy/Getty Images)“Japan and the UK have forged a close defence and security partnership that is being elevated to new heights this year when the UK Carrier Strike Group visits the Indo-Pacific,” said Wallace, the defence secretary.

“The most significant Royal Navy deployment in a generation demonstrates the UK’s commitment to working with our partners in the region to uphold the rules-based international system and promote our shared security and prosperity,” he said.

Calling Japan “a key security partner for the UK, and a close, enduring friend,” Foreign Secretary Raab said that the UK’s “Indo-Pacific tilt” demonstrates the two countries’ “shared priorities and common strategic interests” including maritime security and free trade.

The four ministers also voiced “grave concerns” over the recent situation in Hong Kong, in particular Beijing’s imposition of a National Security Law on the city, as well as the human rights situation in Xinjiang.

On Jan. 6, Mace tweeted that she left the Cannon Building where her office was located: “Just evacuated my office in Cannon due to a nearby thereat,” she wrote. “Now we’re seeing protesters assaulting Capitol Police.”

AOC wasn’t even in the Capitol building where all the action was going down. If she was in her office, she was in the Cannon Building which is nearby, but a different building. But of course, many didn’t get the logistics and just assumed that she was in the Capitol building.

According to Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), who has an office in the same hall as AOC, two doors away, there were never any rioters in their hall so there was never any physical danger from rioters coming in at any point.
“[Ocasio-Cortez] made clear she didn’t know who was at her door,” she wrote, sharing a report from Newsweek. “Breathless attempts by media to fan fictitious news flames are dangerous.”

“My office is 2 doors down,” Mace said. “Insurrectionists never stormed our hallway. Egregious doesn’t even begin to cover it.”
“Is there nothing MSM (mainstream media) won’t politicize?” she questioned.

Ocasio-Cortez said that rioters actually entered her office, forcing her to take refuge inside her bathroom after her legislative director Geraldo Bonilla-Chavez told her to “hide, hide, run and hide.”
“And so I run back into my office,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “I slam my door. There’s another kind of like back area to my office, and I open it, and there’s a closet and a bathroom. And I jump into my bathroom.”

Ocasio-Cortez said was hiding behind the door “and then I just start to hear these yells of, ‘Where is she?’”

As members of the mob banged against the door, Ocasio-Cortez believed “this was the moment where I thought everything was over.”
“And the weird thing about moments like these is that you lose all sense of time,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “In retrospect, maybe it was 4 seconds. Maybe it was 5 seconds, maybe it was 10 seconds. Maybe it was one second, I don’t know. It felt like my brain was able to have so many thoughts.”

“In between the screams and the yells,” Ocasio-Cortez added, “I mean, I thought I was going to die.”

Mace unleashed on Newsweek, saying they were being misleading to “fan fictitious news flames.”

On Monday evening, AOC recounted the events that took place on Jan. 6.

“All of a sudden I hear, boom, boom, boom, boom on my door,” she said. “And then I hear these huge violent bangs on my door, and then on every door going into my office. Just, bang bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. Like, someone was trying to break the door down. And um, there were no voices; there were no yells … no one identifying themselves. And just, boom, boom, boom. And I just get up … and I run over to the legislative office.”
Ocasio-Cortez allegedly ran into her bathroom but then decided her closet would be a better place to hide. “I start opening the door to my bathroom, and I’m gonna run across to the closet. …And I hear that whoever was trying to get inside, got into my office. And then I realize that it’s too late for me to get into the closet. So I go back in, I hide back in … and then I just start to hear these yells of, Where is she? Where is she? And I just thought to myself, they got inside.”

“And so, I hide behind my door. … This was the moment where I thought everything was over.”

She then started crying as she explained how she saw a “white man in a black beanie” who was actually a Capitol Police officer.

Since AOC is obviously traumatized by her experience and cannot perform her job, she should resign,
just like all democrats demand of Republicans every chance they get

 

The truth has never stood in the way of democrats pushing their official narrative.

The timeline shows that the capitol break-in happened BEFORE Trump even STARTED speaking.
