[h=2]Richmond Raceway to undergo $30 million redevelopment[/h] Tuesday, 11 July 2017

The newly rebranded Richmond Raceway will undergo a $30 million infield redevelopment, the track and International Speedway Corporation (ISC) announced Tuesday.
Richmond says the "new project will bring new attractions and enhanced amenities for fans, teams, sponsors, and other stakeholders." It will be launched by its September 2018 NASCAR race weekend.
Among the upgrades:

• New Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series garage with a fan viewing walkway
• The ability for fans to view the inspection stations
• An infield social and engagement area with concessions
• Victory Lane will be staged closer to the grandstands
• An 80-person club experience that will have roof access over Victory Lane
• Two new garage suites with a view into the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series garage
• A new infield media center with broadcast booths, a conference room and hospitality space
• New vehicle crossover gate on the backstretch
• Relocation of the tram route that will deliver riders to the front of the track
• New pedestrian tunnel
• 80 new RV spaces
• infield drainage improvements

"This is a great day for ISC and Richmond Raceway, and even more importantly for the great racing fans in the Commonwealth of Virginia," said ISC Chief Executive Officer Lesa France Kennedy. "We are always seeking ways to provide unique fan experiences at our facilities and this project is certainly a terrific example.

"Richmond Raceway has an incredible history and we look forward to its bright future engaging fans in a new way with this infield redevelopment."
Richmond is the third track to undergo such a project. In January 2016 the $400 million Daytona Rising project was completed at Daytona International Speedway. Earlier this year, Phoenix Raceway announced a $178 million modernization project also expected to be completed in the fall of 2018.
Barton Malow will be the contractor for the project with the DLR Group the architect for what is being called, Richmond Raceway Reimaged. HG Design Studio, a Richmond-based company, will be the civil engineer.
"Richmond Raceway Reimagined is a commitment by ISC to the future of the sport and the iconic racing experience in Richmond," Richmond President Dennis Bickmeier said. "The track has been a racing destination for over 70 years, and this investment will help ensure the bright future of the facility for the next 70 years."
