Does anyone know what i could swap my 5sfe engine with and it be almost a direct swap so i could get some more horsepower out of it. Or at least how much psi boost teh 5sfe engine can take? Thanks.

 

3sgte almost the same bolt up. well i know it works for the mr2. i would assume its close enough to work in the camery as well maybe some fab required but i dont see it being too hard. that car would rock with a 2nd gen 3sgte placed in there. not sure about things like trasnmission, maybe a celica turbo trans. or even the mr2 trans with some modifcation to the cabling, eather way thats a downtime project. search around maybe its been done and the info is avalable if someone has done it before it will be a magor time and headake saver.

well i used my 5sfe tranny and a turbomotor so i'm guessing you could do the same.
see if you can use your current tranny and the 3sgte, i'm not sure how the wire harrness will workout though, but i say do it.
i got the hook up if your gonna look for a 3sgte, i can get them cheapo!!

from the junk yard with a 90 day warrenty, ranges n e were from $700-a grand. it comes everything you need for it to run, intercooler, fans, wireharrness, ecu clutch.ect ect ect.
just let me knowi did the swap with my car, it the motor runs better then new.

 

thats not cheap, thats normal. is that not with trans or did you just leave it out?

 

i have a 97 camry and have been wanting to drop in a 3s-gte engine for a while now but what shop in tampa would do a project like this, or just swaping out the gte head and putting it on the 5s bottom end to get a 2.2 turbo instead of a 2.0

 

the 2.2turbo is the way to go but it get pricy to do it right...
im doing a 2.2 turbo celica right now.
