92 Camry 5sfe swap
the 3s-gte motor mounts are close but am not sure how exact they are. i know the camry has 3 mounts, one rear below intake plenum, one front below oil filter mount, and a transmission mount.
you have to use a 2nd gen camry (87-91) v6 manual transmission. no others work AFAIK. the shift linkage has to be modified/custom made as well since the slave cylinder is a different distance from the shifter than it was with the rear engine setup. might be able to use other v6 manual transmissions but so far only the 2mz-fe one works (i think thats the correct 2nd gen v6 engine code, 3rd gen had 3vz-fe and 1mz-fe in 1994 and up models)
the wiring i have never been able to see done in person, but its not an easy nor a hard job. i assume someone with knowledge of reading electrical diagrams in the FSMs and knowledge of car harness setups can probably figure it out. probably alot easier when leaving out things like cruise control, a/c, and stuff. i have no idea how a/c and/or ps hook up mechanically, i have seen it done once or twice. the engine is a bolt in in the 2nd gen camrys, 3rd gen and up camrys are more difficult. and the wiring gets a step harder when doing it with a 97 and up v6 model or a 00 and up 4cyl model, since camrys went to DIS then and the 3s-gte was distributor timed.
to do the 2.2L, im not sure if the 3s head has to be cylinder matched or anything but i do know you need custom pistons and rods to accomodate clearances, but can use the 5s crank (1993 5s cranks were forged
)
i have included a picture of a swap done a long while back, luckily this guy found a coupe that was originally 4cyl and manual. very rare find. 3rd gen camrys (92-96) were the hardest to find in manual transmission. if i could remember his website i could link you to more pictures, to show how they relocated the cruise control to remain in the car (its the black box relocated in the picture), as well as show how there are clearance issues with the downpipe and avoiding the front motor mount with it.
