Recommend a shop for 98 LS400 V8 work
Hey everyone, I searched around on the forums and found some 2005 - 2008 post on shops. Since it has been awhile and times change, I wanted to know if someone can recommend a shop to fix my 98 LS400 V8 issues possibly around Sarasota?
Currently, it's sitting in Sarasota and will not start. My friend rebuilt the starter and the car did start but made a horrible constant squealing noise. I drove it one time and after turning off the car, it wouldn't start again... Battery is good, even tried jumping it. Turn the key and it's completely silent. Lights and dash lights work fine.
Side note, I also have an A/C leak that needs to be fixed as well.
If there is a shop around Sarasota that works on Toyota V8s and can possible tow my car there? That would be awesome. Worse case, I will have to sign up for AAA and then use it to tow somewhere.
Thanks for the help!

I don't know of any shops around Sarasota, but if your car had a factory alarm, make sure your problem isn't related. The killswitch on Toyota Alarms is intense. Also, are you sure the squealing was coming from the starter? It's possible that the wiring to the starter is insufficient. The Starter on a 1UZ is in a very cumbersome location, and I'd definitely understand why you wouldn't want to mess with it. I'm sorry I don't know the Sarasota area very well, but I wish you the best of luck in finding a good shop in your vicinity.
sounds like the starter is fried. the squeling might have been the bendix on the starter sticking. id buy a new starter and have it installed.
