Default Recommend a shop for a job.

Here's the skinny..

Driving on 275 today I heard an awful noise and looked out my rear mirror as my crank pully flew behind me.

Apparently the previous owner did a dipshit move and overtightened the crank pulley bolt, thus The Crank Pulley Bolt SNAPPED off inside.

it's too far to remove without an extractor (vice grips aint gonna do it..)

I do not have my air tools in Tampa, and don't want to make matters worse by breaking off an Extractor bit inside the crank bolt.

Lmk what you guys think

This sucks.

Change the crank? I don't think that's going to be necessary, i can still see a bit of the bolt. Basically i just need it extracted.

Was it hard to do with the extractor? The head of the bolt is off so I'm thinking there will not be much tension, unless this goomba cross threaded the bolt or something.

use a dremel/die grinder to the end of the bolt. The use a impact screw driver with a flat head bit. Then hit with hammer.

I can probably get the bolt out.

Recently I removed a domestic-threaded crank bolt
that someone had impacted into a Honda, resulting in a
beat up crank pulley that wobbled, a damaged keyway in the crank,
a damaged keyway in the crank pulley, etc. etc,.......
I sure wish that guy had me do the work to start with.
It would have saved him some money to get it done right.

I also do on-site impact wrenching for crank pulleys and
many other things. PM me if you want someone to look at it.

What part of town are you in?-Bob
