7m any good?
Considering the amount of people that dont correct the issue id say its little known. How about you take your sarcasm somewhere else, considering its not contributing to anything.
the only people that dont correct the issue are the broke ass kids that dont know any better. just because some kid in diapers doesnt know, doesnt mean it is little known. it was known while the mk3 was still in production. toyota redesigned the hg during production. they didnt change the tq spec as that would have required them to do a full recall, which would have cost them ALOT of money. btw, do you realise how RARE a 7m is with the original hg it came with from toyota? if it was done by a competent mechanic with a stock hg at stock tq specs, itll be fine for ~100k miles as long as it is treated as any other normal car. however if the owner deides to up the boost and dog on it, yeah, theyll likely encounter detonation that will kill the stock hg. a mhg will blow due to detonation as well, even with head studs, it just can withstand a higher amount before it fails. as i said in my first post, there is no problem with the 7m it is the OWNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i bought my first mk3 just to yank the engine out for an ae86 project, the end of the crank were the main pulley was worn out from some one leaving the bolt loose before me. my dd had some problems so i rigged the pulley with a lock washer off a trailer tow hitch and just torqued the head bolts tighter without changing the gasket.kept it 1quart of oil over filled. 6 months later i had converted it to a five speed, hard pipeing, large front mount, wight loss,gm maf,safc,lm1,62-1 at 10psi ,ss headers,3inch exhaust, and a 13w foot with a lazy 300 pound guy behind it! i beat the crap out of it!untill i tryed to push for 15psi and it kept spiting out crank pulleys lol! i shit you not i kept 5 or 6 in my trunk for a few weeks and then figured it was time to build a motor. but it never died.

Old thread but 7ms can be great engines, My dad daily drives one with 640rwhp on pump gas and it has 21k miles, we had a stock motor one with just a MHG make 500 for over a year no issues and have built a few others like that. Mine made over 900rwhp through an auto for a few years and was taken out and sold. Very specifi engines but can be built to be one of the best.
