i have a 92 toyota soarer with a 1jz-gte, i love the 1j and the 2j they both make reliable power 750hp is low on the scale of what either motor is able to do. I myself plan to have around 800 rwhp on factory bottom end, i will say if your looking for those numbers to get arp head studs and a mls head gasket is a must. a set of cams injectors a good fuel set up and a nice turbo will most def get those numbers.

1jz would be an easier swap i believe..either motor can produce that kind of whp ..however the 1jz will more then likely need more money spent to make it..where as a 2jzgte can make that power with stock motor..(ie 1jz will need at least some cams)

Well for 650-750hp.... a 1JZ is gonna take more work to get it to that level than going with a 2jz. Not saying the 1jz isnt capable, it most definitely is and quite under rated. To make a honest 500whp on pump id go with a precision 6262, 264 cams, and AEM with a GOOD tune (of course all supporting mods). Not 650-750whp but thats on pump gas and moderate boost (17-20psi).

Go 2J and save yourself a lot of trouble in the long run.. I have a 1J and so do a lot of my friends, but it was also cheaper/easier back when most of us did it.

plus, you're probably used to the driveability the 3L has around town, and it will make more power will less work above a certain point (-displacement does that). This means the most considering you want 650-750hp..
