if you plan on down time you can achive good power from the stock GE boosted.
I personally think the better way is to just do the GTE swap, just go on my.is and clublexus and even supraforums to get better answers

depends on the power you're looking for honestly
so if your goals are not ridiculously high the stock motor and tranny will be just fine
no reason to swap it
also the stock motor is almost worthless as far as selling..you'd typically get only a few hundred bucks for them..

also its not cheaper to swap it. why? you have to buy a 2jzgte $2000+ right there(thats for the cheaper auto swap)..then u have to pay to have it swapped...probably another $2000 or so depending on the place you take it too..unless you plan to do it yourself
then if u wanted a v160..another $3000+ for that tranny alone

if you wanted an xs power turbo kit for a NA-t setup..they are about $1800 then you need it installed plus some engine management...stock injectors/hg will do for a moderate 300-330whp which would be nice imo...

check out clubna-t.com and do some research there also.

vvt-i 2jz-gte motors run around 1800, can bolt it to the w55 and will hold stock power for enough time to save up for an r154 =-p

a good na-t setup will run around $5,000 including engine management and injectors. Xs power kits have decent piping but use super cheap turbos, wastegates, boost controllers, etc..

Doing both jobs CORRECTLY will cost about the same

Really questionable how long that w55 will hold up, no idea why they didnt just put a w58 in these at least.

I think you can piece together a good na-t kit with some used parts and a rebuilt turbo for cheaper than that though, unless the is300 is alot harder to go na-t than an sc300.
