I think you can piece together a good na-t kit with some used parts and a rebuilt turbo for cheaper than that though, unless the is300 is alot harder to go na-t than an sc300.
Putting it together isn't going to be the problem, but your going to have to run a stand-alone. Or a bad ass piggy back, cause VVT-I is a pain in the ass to tune.

Lol, I know from personally experience. Your best bet is too get the swapp stuff together, do the swap, then find a 2JZ-GE 5 Speed ECU wth VVt-i (im selling mine), plug it in and see if it works. Being a Lexus, idk if all you other things are going to work. (Electonic throttle body) things like that, but htere only one way to find out, so keep us posted on what you dicide to do.

bc i'm na-t on a lexus with a 2jz ge vvti motor and i find it awesome to tune with

400+ daily driven is easy on a 2jz ge (with vvti) auto trans (with valve body upgrades) lexus gs so i'm sure what he wants to do is possible

:edit:
i've been na-t for a while now 40k miles on my set up. it's doable if you do it right

It's a pain to tune when you want a built head.
