Need Help w/ MR2... Boost Probs
Boost Problem... Need Help
I have an EVC, VPC, the greddy TDO6 kit, and an external deltagate. I have my boost set at 10psi with the EVC and its been running fine until yesterday. My intercooler pipe popped off during high boost. It happens occasionally no matter how hard I tighten down. Well usually I just put it back and everything is fine. This time I put it back and now my car is boosting too 17psi. This is not good as my internals can not handle that power. My EVC is still on so why isn't it limiting boost? Can anybody offer any advice

The TD06 is notorious for boost creep problems .
What I suggest is to do the "Freeze Plug Mod" . You put a freeze plug on the little wastegate actuator after maching it out . Deno and a few other TD06 owners said this has cured their creep problems .
Read the MR2 boards ,and ask there . http://board.mr2faq.com.

Also forgot to add the EVC is probally the wrost BC in the world . The spikes that that boost controller causes are enormous . I would suugest a better EBC . Something like a Blitz SBC or Apexi AVC-R or GReddy Profec B .
Oh sorry didnt see that . Well I'm unsure how did you close off the TDO6's internal gate ? Possibly something is fuzzy in there ?
If you have an exteranl though my suggestion is get a better Boost Controller .
The HKS EVC is really bad . A Two's R Us MBC would probally be a hell of alot better than that thing .

Well unfortunatly i'm stuck with the EVC II, and its really not so bad. At least when it works. I tried to dial in with the EVCs manual mode and that didn't limit boost either. I am still clueless as to what the problem is.... this really sucks.[/code]
AW11 Drifter is giving some good advice. Since your hose has been popping off, that prolly means you were bleeding boost, now that the pipe is connected properly, you are probably holding more boost. You may have to re-adjust your wastegate. Also, you may want to check your vacuum lines going to your boost controller, if one of these is off or has a hole in it, you might not be limiting boost at all, which will cause the wastegate to remain closed. I would check all your vacuum lines, make sure they are all attached. I just replaced all my hoses, and it seems I have been leeking boost for over 6 months now. It makes a bid difference when there is no vacuum leak.
The td-06 is notorious for boost spike, like AW11 Drifter says, you are gonna need a lot better boost controller, such as the GReddy Profec B, or the new Blitz gimmick. I suggest running 12-13psi max till you can get a better controller. If you want to hook up, I can take a look at it, and we can F around with it. I'd also like to check out your car, as I love MR2's, and your car sounds nice! Just let me know, and try these things out.

Well I replaced all the vacuum lines today and its still f'ed up. I don't think I was leaking before as its happened 3 times and everytime things went back to normal. Just not this time. Also, I am sorry but I cannot afford a new BC right now. I could possibly get a dual stage manual, but I don't have the $$$ for the ones you mentioned. I dropped all my cash into this car.
Also, I was run 10psi max before this happened. It used to build boost and hold at 10psi with not spiking at all. Now it just steadily climbs up. Let me know when is a good time for you as I would gladly appreciate your help. It may be something easy to see for somebody familiar with these cars. I am new to the MR2 and bought this one modified so I am clueless. Thanks
