Well 135600 is near death for a Toyota. I feel that there isnt much time left for her. The transmission sounds like a box of marbles shaken around. The fluid has never been changed in it =(. I do change the oil every 1500 miles to keep the motor extra clean.
Today as I was driving home from Tampa (50 miles one way) it was running rough and it was also in the morning. Black smoke so I knew it was burning rich. Anyways on the way home I had it pinned to the floor and only able to do about 80 took 1/2 a tank of gas to get home. I get home go to the grocery store by the time I get back home again it is TERRIBLE. I take the distributor cap off. The rotor looks alittle worn I clean it off and file down some new metal. Start it back up..still rough. I take the plugs out and behold #1 is crusted terrible with carbon #2--NOTHING left on the spark plug but the threads...and the inside looks like a spoon scooped everything out #3 is white crusted over #4 plug is bent every which way and about to flake apart.

I get new plugs and an air filter. Clean everything up and hopefully itll be allright. I checked my timing everything is on o2 sensors have correct ohm readings carb is clean new fuel filter 93 oct gas.
When It starts in the morning it runs SUPER rich now never did this 3 weeks ago. I changed the plugs and air filter poured alittle tranny fluid down the carb to clean the top end alittle bit carb cleaner etc. Ran perfect---now when i started it up thismorning runs like crap again so rich you can light the exhaust on fire. Once it warms up it smoothes out. Theres no adjustment on the carb because toyota blocked it off. Any other ideas why its burning them up? I thought it was from timing but each cylinder is running different.

Now today...I can drive it and itll backfire so loud--gangsters will duck and dogs will run. No power..new dist cap...plenty of fire through the plugs compression is so so but its been like that for years
I also on top op of the new dist. cap got a new rotor cleaned up the distributor up good set the timing etc. I dunno what it is!! Also while it idles--Itll start to smoke white/black smoke. Not oil burning smoke...just white STINKY stuff..cross between gas and just something that will take your breath away literally. Any ideas as where I should go from here. I really need this car ...its a primary driver and the GA is my weekend toy/backup fun. I dont want to rack the miles from driving to work 500 miles a week..

Thanks again

Im not worried about the head gasket just yet. No coolant is leaking into the oil or oil in the coolant. I change the oil in the cars every 2000 miles etc. No signs of coolant in the oil when Its changed either.

Now keep in mind I got the car at 90000 miles. No oil change ever any fluid change brake job nothing until It was given to me after it sat for 3 years. I did new brakes scraped the pastey oil from the pan broke the motor free (it was siezed up) etc. Its ran perfect until this point---with LOTS of work.

Im thinking its the ignition somewhere. Its missing terrible again. I got it to run last night but it sounded as if a plug wasnt firing right. When it was cold I pushed the gas to get going down the road---It would backfire so loud dogs were howling/barking and gangsters were running. Good thing it was dark outside lol. Im gonna try to get another dist cap tonight and rotor. This one only has about 10000 miles on it but its worth a shot.

Once I get it running again...next step is to get a new a/c compressor. I came across about 3 cans of R-12. Once thats fixed Im gonna hook upthe transmission fluid in the washer tank to the carb rig...>

If i cant get it running Ill rig it up and sell it to some mexican.

if the smoke is kinda white-ish and smells funky i would think that might be burnt coolant??? im not very much into diagnosing problems like that once they get beyond the simple answers which you seemed to have already taken care of.

perhaps you need a new head gasket if the CR of each cylinder is different and if indeed you are burning coolant your gasket is shot! and it would be necessary to get a new one. i would probably do that anyways as i think yours probably has never been changed. also on the tranny thats a 3speed auto if i remember correctly? those things are dirt cheap i would assume since theyre old. u can probably pick one up from a junkyard somewhere or get one rebuilt or the likes for 150-300. they shouldnt be much since its older and all.

135k isnt actually much for a toyota engine. well i dunno about the carbd engines but i know the fuel injected ones from around 80-on are usually good for 200000-300000 miles if kept in good order.

good luck. and if u need help doing labor i can help
