Default MR2 - 5SFE Rebuild Suggestions?

I am looking to have the 5SFE in my MR2 rebuilt within the next several months and I was wondering if there are any shops or mechanics that y'all would suggest. Obviously, XAT is a good starting point and I have gotten a quote from them but it seemed like a good idea to at least check around a bit and see if there were any other suggestions, all are appreciated.

Thanks,

As Laura has pointed out, the MR2 is not intended to be a project car as I already have my '94 Z32 for that. Essentially, with the MR2 I am just looking to restore it to working order as fun little daily. Essentially, I am only looking to either rebuild the 5SFE or possibly replace it with a 3SFE or 3SGE, no time or desire to do a 3SGTE swap.

You could put a turbo on it

I did this, and it was a fun little car at 7-9 psi.

for the money your going to spend on rebuilding the 5sfe you can buy an MR2 3sgte rear clip witch will have all you need to convert it.

Well that would be fine if I had the time to personally do all the work but, unfortunately these days I am lucky to find the time to even tinker with the Z much less anything else.

if you get a usdm 3sgte clip, everything is pretty easy to do, basically just bolt everything together

3SGE it!!

(This is the only logical solution as far as performance, reliability and cost)

A used 5FSE is the second choice, since you can get them for $ 500.00 shipped... But again, why bother when you have the 3SGE solution up top?

PEACE-
