Find me a hardtop and I'll sell ya mine.
First Supra I found was near Orlando, so I got lucky, but unfortunately, as I was waiting for the seller to get his new car, another guy came and offered him more than his askin gprice, and I didn't want to meet his price, so my next lead was one on eBay that I was ready to fly to Washington state for, but I lost in the last 15 seconds. Luckily I found my car in Atlanta, so it only took a full day of driving and a lot of caffeine to get it.

I don't see what the big deal is about a hard top, sure it must be rare but come on, I don't think you really need the extra rigidty unless your tracking it. Supra w/targa top = Sexors!

96 Supra Twin Turbos were ALL automatic, except the swapped ones, feel me 
30k for a 97-98 could be pushing it if you arent willing to look and travel for them.

You'll also have a tough time finding a 97-98 6spd for under 30K. These cars are those pushing the market in price for a clean one, especially those without repaint (something I would not worry about personally). I'd put the word out to the big sellers out there (WOTM,Speed4Sale, etc) and be willing to bump your budget if need be, as well as travel and or ship the car if need be. It's not very hard to fly to check out a car and then have it driven home or loaded on a transporter, in the end it can save you from buying a bad car out of state, and open yourself up to many cars that would not be available in state.
