i don't see why you'll swap 5sfe in there??
easy swaps: -Paseo 5efe engine
-JDM 5efhe engine
-or starlet jdm 4efte turbo engine. Those will drop in on the stock mounts all you need is wiring
If you want to deal with making new mounts and all the custom stuff:
-4age--any
-or 3sgte
and whatever other frankenstein you have in mind

Not really. The 5sfe is a sorry excuse for an engine. I'm guessing those Tercels didn't come with S series mounts. Why bother to modify the mounts to put in a peice of crap engine in there. If your going to do that, you are much better off putting in any gen 3sge or better a 3sgte. There just no point to spend the time money and work involved in swapping in a 5sfe, you're better off saving some time and money and just getting a direct replacement.

For anyone curious, The Tercel/Paseo was the equal to the Toyota Starlet in Japan. When the Starlet was killed off, the Vitz/Yaris/ Echo was the replacement. The Scion xA/xB share the same chassis as the Vitz, so that would be evolution of the Tercel.

One guy in California dropped a 4EFTE into his xA..I'd love to do that.

and yeah most part from the JDM starlet are upgrades for the Tercel/Paseo

 

News to me...whats so crappy about it? Restrictive heads? Pistons? Worse case scenerio I'd say buy a 5S-FE, throw some GTE pistons at it and if a G head doesnt fit on it, port it out a bit.
